On Cuomo: It's a Criminal Thing
Puppet parts….
Andrew Cuomo would have us believe that young women in 2021 are much more sensitive than "in his day." Political correctness abounds and women are so easily offended.
It's a generational thing.
Not so.
For as long as women have been in the workforce (myself for 40 years) we have endured the pawing and groping of men who have power over us. We smile through gritted teeth so that we can pay rent, buy food and medicine for our children, and otherwise survive.
We had no voice. That is why we were silent.
#MeToo was the sound of women finding that voice.
For the record: the stares, the jokes, the gropes: not OK; not fun; not appreciated. Not now, not then.
Even though I haven’t yet heard anyone say so, it’s not OK to subject men to kissing and other displays of physical contact in the workplace either. Cuomo says no gender was spared his touches and kisses.
That is supposed to make it alright?
I’ve worked with plenty of men who never crossed the lines into sexual harassment and did not seem tempted to do so. What an insult to most men out there who are not players in the workforce culture game of “Come on, can’t you take a joke?” after a kiss, a grope, a comment about one’s bra size.
It’s not a generation thing.
It’s a criminal thing.
